The Nov. 23 ”What other newspapers are saying” quoted the Pine Bluff
(Ark.) Commercial as stating: ”It costs the taxpayers some $2.3 billion a year to run Congress, or $4.2 million per member.”
The next day`s front-page article ”S&L bailout agency creates more waste” quoted Rep. Frank Annunzio (D.-Ill) as stating: ”While the taxpayers make greater contributions to the savings and loan bailout, the RTC
(Resolution Trust Corp.) spends money like it is going out of style.”
I guess it shows that it takes a government waster of taxpayer dollars to recognize a waster of government taxpayer dollars. The question is: When will both waste-oriented groups start cleaning up their acts of taxpayers` expense?
