Concerning the Old Milwaukee beer advertisements featuring scantily clad women that have aroused some recent controversy (and prompted litigation), I would offer the following observations.

First, notwithstanding my belief that the ads are moronic-and, yes, even dehumanizing-I find it difficult to accept that the ads pose a threat to anyone, including female employees of the brewer.

On the other hand, the looming specter of governmental infringement upon the right of a private business enterprise to air moronic (but innocuous)

advertisements is a threat whose danger should not be underestimated.
