A recent Part B Explanation of Medicare Benefits for my husband`s surgery contained the following explanation, ”Your provider(s) did not agree to accept our approved amounts. You could have saved money by going to a participating provider.”

This bill was from an anesthesiologist who entered the hospital room shortly before surgery.

Had I asked him if he accepted Medicare Assignment and he replied in the negative, what would the alternative have been?

I really can`t figure this one out.
