Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I was recently flipping through channels on my TV when I found myself at a cable children`s station. What I saw left me completely dumbfounded.

It is an ad for a new game by Nintendo of America. This game is called Dr. Mario and the object is for one player who is already carrying a deadly virus to transfer it to his opponent. A player wins once he successfully transmits the virus.

The advertisement includes the lines ”then contaminate, exterminate and spread the viruses.” Also advertised are the words ”. . . infect your opponent. Make him sweat, run a fever, get the chills.”

Being an AIDS survivor, I find it very difficult to tolerate this kind of senseless advertising for a game that will teach children all the wrong values as well as all the wrong things to do when one is ill.
