Whether the economy is booming or bottomed-out, AIDS is very much with us. HIV and AIDS can affect your doctor, spouse or significant other, minister, lawyer, postal carrier, waiter and store clerk. We can never know how ”close” AIDS is to us because it is most often invisible. AIDS is not somebody else`s problem.

During this recession, AIDS service providers are facing decreased financial support and ever-increasing caseloads. You can help make a difference in providing services to HIV-positive people, including food, shelter, counseling, legal services and primary care.

This year Illinois taxpayers can contribute a portion of their income tax refund to help fight AIDS. The 1992 state income tax form includes the Ryan White Victims Assistance Fund checkoff. Last year, Massachusetts raised more than $700,000 for AIDS support organizations through a similar income tax checkoff. The Ryan White fund must generate at least $100,000 in donations to remain on the income tax form for next year. With the help of your contribution we can meet and surpass that goal.
