The Chicago chapter of the National Organization for Women has sold more than 1,500 ”Dump Dixon Now” buttons. The lavender-lettered white button refers to the re-election campaign of Sen. Alan Dixon (D-Ill.) Sue Purrington, executive director, says calls to Chicago NOW against Dixon`s re-election peaked after he voted to confirm Judge Clarence Thomas as a Supreme Court justice. Dixon spokeswoman Erin Kern says that throughout Dixon`s tenure,
”he`s had a commitment to women`s rights that he`s followed through on.”
