Speculation and rumors have been flying for weeks about the imminent departure of Patsy Pease from her long-time role of Kimberly Donovan on ”Days of Our Lives.” The show has now confirmed that Pease has made the decision to leave.
Pease will tape her final episodes early this month, and her last scenes are slated to air on Jan. 22. A spokesperson for the show has indicated that the role won`t be recast and Pease would be welcomed back should she decide to return. In the story line, Kimberly will move to Los Angeles to begin a new life.
Behind the scenes on ”Days,” Gene Palumbo has left as head writer. Taking over as co-head writers are Richard Allen and Beth Milstein, both of whom have been writers on the show for several years.
Speaking of ”Days of Our Lives,” Drake Hogestyn, who played Roman Brady for the past five years until it was revealed that he is really John Black, admits it was rather strange when he first came face-to-face with co-star Wayne Northrop, who plays the real Roman Brady, for the first time.
”We had to feel each other out in the beginning and go through all that sparing stuff on camera,” he says. ”But off-screen Wayne and I really are like two peas in a pod. We get along quite well. What he doesn`t say, I will. Between the two of us, we cut up quite a bit, so it`s been refreshing. It lightens things up around the studio a lot!”
