In two articles by Steve Daley on the 1992 presidential candidates
(”Clinton steals show at forum,” Nov. 24; ”Viewers get chance to size up who would be president,” Dec. 16) there is virtually no information on the specifics of any proposals presented by the candidates. Rather, the articles simply report on ”themes.”
Our 1992 presidential election is very important. Tribune readers should receive the benefit of factual information on the candidates` positions, not glossy hype.
Tribune readers deserve a detailed recounting of the proposals articulated, with as much detail as the candidates provided. If they did not provide any detail and instead stuck to only themes, then say that and be critical of their failure to provide details.
As a Midwesterner, I much prefer reading the Tribune to the New York Times, if only for parochial reasons. I find myself, however, buying the Times more and more frequently, to the exclusion of the Tribune, because it has the facts and the Tribune does not. I very much hope you implement changes so that future articles are worth reading.
