Congratulations, Commonwealth Edison, you`ve won your little battle with the Chicago City Council. As a consumer, I couldn`t care less about that. But I am furious about the recent public relations campaign that has littered my TV set and the Op-Ed page of my daily newspaper with ads that show what good guys you are.
As a publicly mandated monopoly with zero competition, you have no business spending money on advertising.
In the past, I have been philosophical about rate raises: I didn`t like paying them, but I did nothing to try to stop them. No more.
Today, I sent my first check to the Citizens` Utility Board and I promise to actively oppose any future raises until you guys stop using my electric bill money to fund your P.R. campaign.
