So, President Bush nominates a Barbara Franklin for Secretary of Commerce. Ms. Franklin has apparently been kicking around the fringes of government in Washington since the Nixon administration. It is reported that she operates her own management consulting firm in Washington and that she is one of the most influential corporation directors in the U.S.

Management consulting? Influential corporation director? Of course. Ms. Franklin, like the rest of that influential clique that hangs around Washington, makes her mark and a very lucrative living by possessing the connections and know-how to steer wealthy corporations towards juicy government contracts.

President Bush indicated that Ms. Franklin`s first assignment is to produce jobs for Americans. George, who are you kdding? Ms. Franklin well knows how to obtain a profitable U.S. military contract for a client . . . but jobs?
