Apparently the INC. columnists O`Malley and Collin have a very tough time living with the fact that Gov. and Mrs. Jim Edgar do not wish to serve alcoholic beverages at their parties and abstain from this ”important”
social habit.
It must be very scary for them to know Gov. Edgar`s decisions are made with a clear head and not while drunk or with a hangover.
I am sure there are a lot of snickers and jibes behind Gov. Edgar`s back when the Chicago and Springfield crowd remembers the former governor`s parties.
As we remember in the 1980s when booze flowed in the governor`s mansion, tax dollars also flowed out and around the state in the form of Build Illinois pork barrel projects that we are now trying to pay for.
It is refreshing to know that we have a governor who realizes alcoholism creates chaos and tax burdens. Alcohol also created the drunk driver who took my sister`s life in 1980.
To Gov. Edgar, please don`t ever change your stance on this issue. There are some of us out here who thank you very much for your efforts to sober up the State of Illinois!
