I read Joan Beck`s column of Jan. 2 on the RU-486 pill. Sadly, the reactionary tactics of many of the anti-abortion groups in the U.S. have already affected the French company`s attitude toward distributing the pill here. Last month, Roussel-Uclaf chose a Canadian research lab as the sole North American recipient for the pill. This lab will be researching and conducting clinical tests of RU-486`s application to many other medical conditions.
Our inability once and for all to allow women the right to medical care of their choice has limited all citizens` access to groundbreaking medical research. And there is hardly anything right-to-life about that.
