The article in the Dec. 29 Perspective section on RU-486 was worthwhile reading. Two telling points were made right away.
One, which might not have been the author`s intent, was that even though this drug has the ”potential for treating . . . cancer, osteoporosis, fibroid tumors, endometriosis, burns, wounds, high blood pressure, glaucoma, immunological defects and other problems,” it is still referred to as the
”abortion pill.” Is there a political bias happening here?
The other is that it threatens to deflate the debate over abor-tion ”by making the procedure a private matter between a woman and her doctor.” Well, it is certainly about time.
