Many African-Americans are filled up over the brim with the attempts by advocates of gay rights at using the experiences of blacks with discrimination and segregation in America as a model of what is happening with gays (as attempted by Rep. Ted Weiss in his Dec. 23 Tribune article, ”Gays in the military”).
It is ironic to see and hear white gays likening their state to that of African-Americans, while at the same time exhibiting all the white supremacist behaviors of discrimination, segregation and exclusion against blacks that straight whites do.
The attempts of white gay rights advocates to tack on to the black experience deserves a ringing denunciation from African-Americans. The black state of affairs is not the result of behavioral doing, but of being, regardless of doing.
