Elvis is alive and well and having his suits pressed at Armitage Cleaners, 1972 N. Halsted St. The King took up residence at the corner dry cleaners about five years ago.

Now customers can pick up Elvis busts ($20), framed Elvis portraits

($8.95) or 100 percent cotton velvet-look Elvis wall hangings ($11.95)

along with lint lifters and fresh shirts.

”I have always been an Elvis fanatic,” says owner Maximiliano H. Gonzalez, who in 1966 smuggled his Elvis records, then his family out of Cuba.

Gonzalez`s prize Elvis (not for sale) stands 20 1/2 inches tall center stage in the front window. He`s supposed to howl ”Hound Dog,” but overuse seems to have tired him out. Above his head, a Hawaiian Elvis struts across a wall hanging, flanked by red guitar-shaped Elvis clocks.

At the outer edge, two plaques list dry-cleaning rates. Shirts run $1.95, two-piece suits $3.90. But Gonzalez insists that if the legend brings in his white gem-sprinkled jumpsuit, he can get the six-hour special gratis.
