Rev. Richard D. Byrne, 49, formerly of Evanston, a Catholic priest of the Cistercian Order, died Sunday at his parents` home in Evanston. Rev. Byrne was director of the Institute of Formative Spirituality at Duquesne University, in Pittsburgh, since 1979. He attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary in Chicago before joining the Cistercian Order at New Malleray Abbey in Peosta, Iowa. Rev. Byrne is survived by his parents, Richard D., and Frances; three brothers; and two sisters. Mass will be said at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the New Malleray Abbey.
