One casualty of the vinyl LP`s dinosaur status is the absence of record jackets that used to add such a marvelous visual dimension to a band`s artistic statement. It`s just not the same, gazing at a 4-inch-square CD cover.
Those who pine for the heyday of album cover art, take heart: illustrator Tony Wright and his Record Art company have assembled ”The Record Art Collection,” a limited edition of lithographic prints created from original artwork for 18 album covers.
Prints include Wright`s own graphic for Traffic`s ”Low Sparks of Low Heeled Boys” as well as ”Blind Faith,” the Who`s ”Tommy” and the psychedelic ”Disraeli Gears” by Cream.
Nostalgia, however, apparently ages like fine wine. Each piece sells for $195 (framed) or $145 (unframed), plus $22.50 for shipping and handling. To order or for more information, call 1-800-888-0047.
