Joseph Chada, 95, an educator, died Saturday in North Miami Beach, Fla. Born in Chicago, Mr. Chada received a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Chicago in 1919. From 1919 to 1927, he taught in Indiana and Illinois high schools. He taught history at Chicago Junior College until 1943. From 1945 to 1961, Mr. Chada was professor of history and chairman of the social studies department at Chicago Teachers College, now Chicago State University. From 1961 to 1972, he was a professor of European history and chairman of the Slavic center at St. Procopius College, now Illinois Benedictine. During his teaching career, Mr. Chada made 12 films on world history for use in elementary schools. Mr. Chada was knighted in 1954 by Pope Pius XII for his work on behalf of displaced persons. He was a past director of the Catholic Charities of Chicago and a founding member and past president of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences. He is survived by a son, Joseph; and six grandchildren. Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church, 2414 S. 61st Ave., Cicero.
