Redskins kicker Chip Lohmiller is coming off his best season as a pro, converting all 56 extra-point attempts and 31 of 43 field-goal tries to earn a trip to the Pro Bowl as the NFL`s leading scorer with 149 points. He will be kicking Sunday on familiar turf in the Metrodome, where he played his college home games at the University of Minnesota.
Lohmiller`s best game in 1991 saw him boot field goals of 53, 52, 45 and 46 yards in the Redskins` Monday night win over Dallas. Both 50-yarders were in the same quarter, tying an NFL record.
The Buffalo Bills Scott Norwood is anxious to discard the ignominious distinction of being the kicker who cost his team a Super Bowl championship. Norwood`s missed 47-yarder at the end of last year`s 20-19 loss to the Giants has been a negative he hopes to purge. Norwood is 4-4 in postseason field-goal tries this postseason; he was 18 of 29 on three-pointers during the regular season, and 56 of 58 on PATs. His two longest field goals were from 52 and 50 yards.
CHRIS MOHR VS. KELLY GOODBURN
Buffalo punter Chris Mohr averaged only 38.6 yards a boot, but landed six punts inside the 20 last season. His longest punt sailed 58 yards against New England. None of his punts was blocked.
Washington`s Kelly Goodburn averaged 39.8 yards on 52 punts with 16 inside the 20. Three of his punts were blocked last season. Goodburn had a season-long 61-yard punt against the Bears.
