Alison Schultz scored five of her 20 points in overtime as host Elk Grove upset No. 4 Hoffman Estates 79-75 Saturday to claim a share of first place in the Mid-Suburban League South Division.

Schultz, who also connected on a three-pointer with two seconds left to send the game into overtime, swished 3 of 4 free throws during the extra session for Elk Grove (14-5, 8-1).

”She (Schultz) took charge and did a nice job of handling the ball,”

said Elk Grove coach Marcia Krysh. ”She wanted to control things and she did.”

Nikki Witonski also scored 20 for Elk Grove while Julia Bartel added 16 and Katy Steininger and Sara Jackson each had 10. Both Bartel and Steininger fouled out in the waning minutes of regulation for Elk Grove.

Hoffman (19-3, 8-1) got 28 points from Lisa Caraballo, 22 from Ronnie Marmitt and 13 from Katie Winski.

Driscoll 50, Lake Forest Academy 14-Joanne Siedlecki tossed in a pair of three-pointers among her team-high 16 points in the non-conference victory. Lisa Smith chipped in with 13 points.

Lake Park 49, East Aurora 37-Lake Park (13-6, 9-2) won its eighth straight in the Upstate Eight with Cindy Hansen (15 points, six assists), Erin Welch (14 points, nine rebounds, four blocks) and Kelly Miller (eight points, 14 rebounds and six blocks) leading the way.
