I`m a believer. I buy American when I can. I own a Chrysler product, a 1990 Plymouth Acclaim, and have found it to be a fine car. After hearing Lee Iacocca`s recent admonitions about supporting American products, and needing windshield wiper replacements for my car, I heeded his advice.
I went to my local American dealer of the American manufacturer
(Chrysler) and asked for the ”genuine” Chrysler (Mopar) parts. They cost about twice as much as wiper replacements in a local auto parts store but the expenditure was still small. Besides, the Mopar parts were designed specifically for my car, and I wanted to be supportive of the ”buy American” concept, so I paid the price.
When the parts man handed over the wipers to me, packaged neatly with the Mopar (Chrysler) logo, it said, ”Made in Mexico.” Ouch! What about it, Lee?
