Police are searching for a man believed to be responsible for a recent string of robberies and sexual assaults on the Near North Side.

Belmont Area violent crimes unit police on Friday released a composite drawing of the suspect, who may be responsible for 15 robberies and three sexual assaults since early January in an area bound by Clybourne and Lincoln Avenues and Wells Street and the lake.

The robber, who displays a blue steel revolver, was described as a 5-foot, 8-inch black man between ages 35 and 40, and weighing 180 pounds with a mustache and short black hair. In some cases, he has worn gold or silver wire-rimmed glasses, Stevens said.
