The improbable hero of the 1988 Winter Olympics is the unhappy outcast of 1992. Eddie ”the Eagle” Edwards, the British ski-jumper who found fame by coming in dead last, has been banned from this winter`s Games in the French Alps. ”My longest jump is 97 meters-well, 102 meters, actually-but I landed on my head that time, so it didn`t count,” he said. The folks who run the British Olympic team had a choice: They could send Edwards or send nobody. They opted for the latter.
