Your Jan. 16 headline ”Baker steps in to save peace talks” is quite misleading. The question is, what did he save?
The article states that ”Baker stepped in and met with the heads of the Israeli, Palestinian and Jordanian delegations . . . but his limited effort appeared to have no effect on the rapidly disintegrating negotiations.” A more accurate headline would have been ”Baker`s attempts to save peace talks fail.”
This is supported by your Jan. 17 headline, ”Mideast peace talks recess with a whimper.”
