Phil Greenwald, 83, a retired professional golfer in Illinois and former Lake Bluff resident, died Friday in his Tequesta, Fla., home. Mr. Greenwald competed in tournaments in South America and throughout Europe. He began playing golf at age 11 and turned professional in his early 20s. He was a member of the Professional Golfers Association for more than 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Garna; and a brother. Funeral arrangements are pending.
