As a true-blue University of Michigan alumnus and fan, I am sad to see Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard leave the football team. But let`s clear things up before comparing Howard to other ”juniors” who quit school to enter the NFL draft (Tribune, Jan. 22).
Desmond Howard will graduate in May after four years at a first-rate university. He is not a quitter. He is a shining example of a student athlete and the first Heisman Trophy winner in several years to graduate from college. I say bravo and godspeed to Desmond Howard. Ann Arbor will miss you.
