JoAnn Bates Nelson, 50, an advertising account executive, died Friday in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. The Chicago native worked as an account executive for the Edward Weiss Advertising Agency and for the last five years at the Northwest Herald newspaper. Ms. Nelson had lived in Crystal Lake for the last 15 years. She is survived by her mother, Gertrude; adaughter, Maggie Nelson; a son, Brian; and a sister. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Skaja Bachmann Funeral Home, 7715 W. Route 14, Crystal Lake.
