British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, a graduate of Oxford University, was removed from office and replaced by John Major, a high school dropout.
Australian Prime Minister Robert Hawke, a Rhodes Scholar, was removed from office and replaced by Paul Keating, a high school dropout.
How do John Major and Paul Keating, two extremely intelligent, self-educated men, compare to our high school graduates, of whom one out of eight is functionally illiterate?
America should worry less about students dropping out, and more about how a student can spend 12 years in the public school system, and then is handed a diploma they cannot read. A diploma alone does not make you educated, nor does the lack of one impair your intelligence.
Let`s end the hypocrisy, America.
