A County Board committee on Wednesday completed a draft revision of the board`s governing rules that could be ready for presentation this month.

The Executive Committee has been going over the rules for several weeks in response to board members` requests that they be cleaned up. Though committee members say most of the changes are not controversial, there is expected to be objection to some powers awarded the board chairman in the revised rules.

Among other things, the new rules give the chairman the authority to set guidelines for the annual budget and to deem members` absences from board meetings as excused or unexcused.

”I have some concerns, but I`m sure they`ll get full discussion” on the board floor, said board member Patricia Carr of Wheaton.
