However, one detail was missing-the insistence of the loggers that they must ”clear-cut”-the removal of every bush and tree leaving bare ground. Selective cutting is not economical, they say.
Clear-cutting is what angers the public and rightly so. It leaves the hills and mountainsides open to the ravages of erosion as well as destroying important watersheds.
