This tax season Illinois taxpayers can help provide much-needed equipment for people with disabilities by contributing to the Rehabilita-tion Technology for People with Disabilities Fund. This can be accomplished by simply check-ing off line 15H of the Illinois 1040 tax form and indicating the amount you wish to donate.
The new law stipulates that unless $100,000 is received, the tax check-off line will be eliminated next year. If 1,000 taxpayers from each Illinois county contribute one dollar, we will be able to continue to fund.
Proceeds will go to a new state program that will provide special equipment from wheelchairs to adaptive computers for people in Illinois with disabilities. The Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services will disburse the funds.
