If you go to a luxury hotel on the Riviera:
First, don`t go in the summer high season if you care about how much it costs. Prices drop after Sept. 30 to $230 plus taxes for a non-view double. And they go up, up, up from there.

Of course, there are many small, much less expensive hotels on the Riviera which are not on Promenade des Anglais, the main drag. You`re not as likely to run into Queen Elizabeth or a president or Clint Eastwood (or Elvis), but you`ll be comfortable, and you can always meet them at a Promenade hotel for coffee or tea.
