Engine commitment: Ford Motor Co. said it is investing about $1.2 billion to develop and build new high-tech, V-6 engines, about $700 million of which will be invested at its Cleveland engine plant No. 2. Robert L. Rewey, vice president of Ford North American sales operations, said the engines will be the latest additions to the company`s new family of modular engines. The engines will have four valves per cylinder to improve efficiency and fuel economy. Rewey said Ford will be able to produce up to 400,000 of the V-6 engines a year.
