It was reported that the chair of Evanston`s Human Relations Commission told the school board that if Mr. Simons is not immediately fired, he ”should be forced to take unpaid leave for the rest of the school year and attend seminars on race issues.” This ”solution” is redolent of the re-education camps so prevalent in totalitarian regimes.
One wonders what happened to the boys whose fight Mr. Simons had to break up. Were they suspended and ordered into a re-education seminar? As George Orwell wrote in 1984, ”the heresy of heresies (is) common sense.”
