In the Feb. 7 Tempo there was an article, ”Public airing of adultery charges leads many to examine their private lives.”

My blood began to boil almost immediately when the two reporters stated that people not in the public eye suffer little ”for what was once thought to be a mortal sin”!

Since when is there an expiration date on the 10 Commandments? I can think of no quicker way to betray trust and destroy families than by adultery. Its consequences are abortion, depression, guilt, bitterness, broken homes and possibly AIDS.

The fact that many people adopt the emptiness of one-night stands or extramarital affairs doesn`t mean that God`s rule has changed. Adultery was a mortal sin in biblical times, and is still a mortal sin today!
