I read with interest the Feb. 4 letter you published by Tamara Mahr Browning and her struggle against racial intolerance.
I would tell her to do more than just tout television shows that put blacks in a favorable light and walk her son through a nice black section of town.
I would tell her to take her son to the library and read up on books that tell of the life stories of famous blacks who made their mark on society in an environment that was much more hostile than now.
Also, I would tell her to instill the fact into her son that he was born in this country just like everyone else and this is his country as much as any other citizen. I would tell her to mention to her son that when someone shows hatred and prejudice towards him because of his race, it is that individual`s problem and many individuals are still very ignorant in the ways of getting along with other people.
