Debra Warner`s Feb. 7 article on the term ”companion animal,” as compared to ”pet,” is a clear example of the need for people to get a life. This game of semantics tennis is ludicrous.

”Companion animal” is a loose definition of the word pet, in the same way ”swimming vertebrate” is a loose definition for fish.

Does Dr. Michael W. Fox, vice president of the Humane Society of the United States, drive his ”internal-combustion-engine-driven vehicle” to work, or his car?

This politically correct language fad has got to stop before I expel partially digested consumed matter out of my oral orifice.
