The delayed trial of Kenyan environmentalist Wangari Maathai in Nairobi has been rescheduled to begin Wednesday. She will be tried with 10 other opposition-party members arrested in January, charged with reporting widespread rumors that President Daniel arap Moi`s government was planning a coup to prevent multiparty elections he announced in December, the first in 25 years. Maathai is founder of the Green Belt Movement in which 50,000 women plant trees in deforested regions.
