After disappointing sales in the fourth quarter, Chicago-area wholesalers are optimistic about the first half of 1992, according to a survey by International Business Machines Corp. and Northwestern University`s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. The Chicagoland Wholesale Distribution survey found that 50 percent of those surveyed expected better sales in the first quarter and 72 percent expect better sales in the second quarter.
