First ladies from 65 nations meeting in Geneva called for creation of a global committee to work toward increasing the income, productivity and self- sufficiency of more than 550 million poor rural women through a larger share of available development funds. Says Nana Kondadu Agyeman-Rawlings, wife of the president of Ghana: ”Given the chauvinistic posture of our menfolk, we women cannot leave the required policy changes solely in their hands.”
