Bernie Lincicome has outdone himself with his chauvinistic, ignorant view of the Winter Olympics. Specifically, I am referring to his statement that the Olympics could have been over the first weekend ”if they had let those little ice dollies do their leaps.”
To refer to the well-trained, athletically gifted figure skaters as ”ice dollies” is a slur on the sport and an insult to the skaters, be they male or female.
I don`t believe that ”only the Finns or Austrians” care about sports that are part of the Olympics, such as cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, slalom skiing, biathlon, ski jumping or even curling. I would rather remember the name of someone who achieved an Olympic goal, or who was thrilled to even be at the Olypmics, than to remember the name of a sportswriter such as Mr. Lincicome, whose writing style is a joke. A bad joke.
