Farmers are being driven off their land and robbed of a parity income. Why are President Bush and Congress exploiting us farmers?
At $5.51 a bushel, my soybeans earned 1.3 percent net income on my investment. I would have to be paid $7.38 a bushel to earn 5 percent on my investment.
Why do Congress and the president give away our grain to foreign countries? Why doesn`t the United States charge $7.38 a bushel for the soybeans we sell to Russia, China and Japan?
It looks like we farmers are subsidizing our country. Is it fair to drive us out of business so the United States can have a favorable balance of trade? Let`s stop giving away our excess grain and turn it all into ethanol so we farmers can survive.
