Thank you for calling attention to the plight of those who depend on tips as a source of income. I worked in the restaurant business for 12 years, back in the ”good ol` days” when tips averaged 15 percent or more, and we weren`t required to report it all to the Internal Revenue Service.

I tip a minimum of 15 percent now, because I remember how difficult and demanding the work was then.

People who don`t feel the need to tip should experience working as a food server for a week. Most wouldn`t last two or three shifts, but they would come away from the experience with a new appreciation for waiters, waitresses and all service providers.
