Mayor Daley`s proposal to introduce casino gambling into Chicago is a cynical abandonment of moral leadership. The root problem in our society is moral breakdown, and this proposal only intensifies the problem. The short-term gain is questionable. The long-term legacy is guaranteed: organized crime; drug and alcohol abuse; prostitution; financial irresponsibility; and poverty. This proposal is a gamble, and Chicago will lose.
