I was disgusted by the story of the family who appealed (unsuccessfully)
to overturn a lower court`s deci-sion of withholding more than $1 million in illegally won gam-bling winnings from the family.
What kind of values are these parents imparting when they bring their 19- year-old son to Las Vegas, allow him to violate the posted age-limit signs by gambling, then take his place in front of the machine when he wins in an effort to collect the money? This seems to be the American way-choosing profit over obsolete values like truth or respect for the law.
It is why our rivers are polluted by industrial toxins, dumped by companies that think they can get away with it. Greed reigns and our planet is dying. Like King Tut, we will be buried with our gold.
