I recently read a Tribune article about a federal study showing that more Ameri-cans than ever are on welfare and food stamps. However, it failed to present statistics on the average number of years those individuals had been on welfare and certainly did not present the numbers and ages of all children born into the welfare regime.
It`s unfortunate that real statistics are not presented to taxpayers on this originally well-meaning program for those who needed help to get back on their feet. It has turned into a way of life for so many. It`s time the U.S. taxpayers no longer are forced to subsidize those who choose to lie on their backs all day and produce an over-abundance of children with enormous social problems.
