A Lansing developer says he`s ready for ”real negotiations” to buy the Detroit Tigers.

”I just signed the papers today, agreeing to confidentiality, so we can look at the books,” developer Joel Ferguson said Monday. ”Everything`s fine. But this is more like a marathon than a sprint.”

Ferguson is a Michigan State University trustee and owner of WLAJ-TV in Lansing.

Ford Motor Co. heir Edsel Ford II also has been negotiating with Tigers owner Tom Monaghan for the club.
