I find it necessary to reiterate an important point made in ”Tyson rape case strikes a nerve among blacks” (March 29):

Something is very wrong with people who idolize Mike Tyson after his conviction. A rapist is not ”a hero.” Furthermore, there is no reason for Tyson to be treated differently than any other rapist merely because he is popular and has money. Our justice system judges people based on their merit, not worth. The jury found Tyson a threat to society, and he got what a criminal deserves.
