Joseph L. Giunta, 70, a former high school football coach and independent insurance agent, died Sunday in West Suburban Hospital Medical Center, Oak Park. Mr. Giunta, a longtime resident of Melrose Park, coached football at St. Philip High School, Holy Trinity High School and De Paul Academy in the Catholic League from 1949 to 1985. He was elected to the Catholic League Hall of Fame in 1973. Mr Giunta served in the Navy during World War II. He is survived by two daughters, Geraldine Bentel and Diane Olcikas; and a son, Joseph. Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in Ahern Funeral Home, 1110 Madison St., Oak Park. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1637 N. 37th Ave., Melrose Park.
