Like hundreds of thousands of others, I found myself surprised and a bit disoriented by the sudden closing of most Loop office buildings. But one of the better moments came on the CTA, when I reached the ”L” platform at Wabash and Adams, I spied none less than the CTA`s director of operations, Bob Grady, welcoming the homebound throngs through the non-functioning turnstiles. As one who often has a litany of complaints regarding the CTA, I believe they should be commended for their rapid reaction to the situation, particularly the rerouting of the subway trains, and opening the turnstiles. Their efficient and good-hearted response helped make a bad day a little better.
